How a claim works

Most personal injury claims in Ireland follow the same broad path. Timings vary with the complexity of the case and the extent of your injuries, but the sequence is consistent.

01
Initial consultation

We assess whether you have a claim, explain your options, and set out likely costs.

02
Medical & evidence gathering

We obtain a medical report on your injuries and collect the evidence needed: records, photographs, witness details, and receipts for any losses.

03
Injuries Resolution Board application

Most claims must first go to the Injuries Resolution Board. Claims involving medical negligence are the main exception and go straight to court.

04
Assessment, then settlement or court

If the assessment is accepted by both sides, your claim settles. If not, we advise on issuing proceedings.

!
Two years, and one month

You generally have two years to bring a personal injury claim, and a letter of claim is due within one month of the injury. Exceptions apply, so speak to a solicitor early.
